Ha! This is actually Nicaragua! A newly completed overpass in front of the US Embassy makes connecting to the New Road to Leon & Chinandega, Carretera Sur for Montelimar & Pochomil, or the newly widened and paved road to El Crucero & Jinotepe much easier!
The widened and freshly paved road to El Crucero & Jinotepe – parts are still under construction including a new roundabout at Nandaime to connect to the roads to Masaya and Rivas, but it is moving forward nicely!
Life Goes On and I Feel Better!
I was able to shrink my gallstone from 17 mm to 13 mm in two months using mostly natural and one prescription medicine, I feel better, I have less gas, I improved my thyroid function, and I lowered my cholesterol! This has convinced my doctor to not remove my gallbladder and allow me to continue with my regime for another 4 months before we check it all again! Yeah – no surgery!!!
Nicaragua really is Love! When I was waiting in the prep/recovery room for my colonoscopy, delayed for 2 hours, I was not permitted to have a book or my cell phone or anyone with me; all I could do was lay there on the bed and observe the staff and other patients. Every time a new coworker would arrive for work, the sincere greeting with lots of love was accompanied with a big hug. When one of the doctors checked up on his elderly patient, he was holding her hand and gently stroking it with genuine love. I was treated with such respect, gentle kindness, and love. My colonoscopy was painless with no polyps or other problems found. Nicaragua really is Love!
It is HOT, HOT, HOT here! The first two weeks of May are always the hottest two weeks of the year waiting for the rains to start and thankfully, they have! We had a little rain early morning of the 12th and a nice big rain in the evening of the 14th; soon things will be green again! 🙂

Unfortunately, you can no longer deposit checks from the US into your local bank account here. In the past, you could deposit foreign bank checks but they would take 20-30 days to clear; now you cannot deposit them. There are several other ways to get money to Nicaragua via WorldRemit, Remitly, Xoom, etc.
Life doesn’t feel so 3rd World now that we actually have a drive thru coffee shop, the second location for La Tostaderia is located in Plaza La Talanguera which has many other commercial spots also available for rent and condos for sale all within a 5 minutes’ walk to SJDS!
This fantastic strip mall is bringing conveniences to La Delicias and a small deli! There are more spaces available for rent and the entire mall is for sale!
Southland Outfitters has opened up less than one block north of our office on the beachfront street. They have a massive display of everything you need to catch your next big one!!!
If you own property between 5 and 15 kilometers from Costa Rica and you want to sell it to foreigners, get your Border Certificate now! The process is a little long and can be a little expensive but at least you will finally be able to sell your property to foreigners. For a secure Taxi Service in Managua – Use the Aventon App, similar to Uber, but with Taxis. All persons, cars, pickups, and drop off locations are on record and rates are predetermined by the App so you don’t have to negotiate!
Use local SIM cards (Subscriber Identity Module) to save money on roaming fees for checking emails or looking at Google Maps or Waze. A local SIM card will make your phone work pretty much just as it does at home, without the roaming fees. For around $20, your local SIM will get you lots of data for your entire trip. Buy it at a local phone store just to make sure you get one that will work with your phone and your phone will need to be unlocked if it isn’t already.

Portal del Mar has opened a camping center that will complement the marina project along with the restaurants and other services they are adding at a fast pace! If you are traveling from any of these countries, and you are traveling to Nicaragua, you must have a certificate proving you have been vaccinated against Yellow Fever or you will be denied entry into Nicaragua!!!
