Learn about Playa Hermosa and the Beaches Near South
Made famous by the filming of the TV show Survivor Nicaragua, this amazing private beach, Playa Hermosa, is one of San Juan del Sur’s longest stretches of sand. Also a good surf beach, you’ll find a restaurant, hotel, and surf school here. The beach is privately owned and considered a Wildlife Refuge, containing an Eco Hotel and a small restaurant. Therefore, you won’t find many homes or businesses at the beach but just outside the entrance and nearby, are several ranch style restaurants and vacation homes. Playa Hermosa is a great place to see monkeys, sea turtles, and many other animals.
Only 15 minutes to the south of San Juan del Sur, the beautiful bay of Playa Remanso is surrounded by towering cliffs of lush green forest is a small surf beach that consists of a private development, a few small ranch style restaurants, and several beach homes scattered throughout the hillside. Nearby, you’ll find the Congo Hills development with its restaurant and pool.
