June Monthly Update on San Juan del Sur


I am truly saddened and horrified by some of the appalling events occurring around the world, especially in my home country, the USA.  After living through the political crisis here in Nicaragua in 2018, I was hopeful to never see something like that again.  Dang, not so lucky but at least it is peaceful here in Nicaragua!


I just watched a video of a guy driving through Minneapolis, it looks like a war zone with buildings on fire, busted up store fronts, graffiti, etc.  Here is the link to the video if you care to watch it:


The world has gone crazy and it is extremely hard to know what to believe and what not to.  For me, and you don’t have to agree, I believe the mainstream media has really been pulling our chains and screwing with our heads!  I wish they could be held accountable for truthful reporting instead of only sensationalizing all the bad.  There are good people out there everywhere and right now I truly appreciate all the good people surrounding me here in Nicaragua!

San Juan del Sur continues to be a little protected happy bubble as it was during the political crisis.  This is probably one of the many reasons I love this place so much.  Living by the ocean eating super fresh seafood and locally grown fruits and vegetables is so healthy for you.  We have a few cases of the virus but not many that I’ve heard of; Managua and other larger cities are getting hit harder.


I pray that everyone is safe and sound and for a resolution to this mess!  These sum up how I feel about 2020 so far:

Life in town is pretty much the same since the last email except now more locals are wearing facemasks since there are some cases of the virus in town.  Restaurants remain open for either dine in or takeout only, no new tourists, no walk-in clients visiting my office; just friends or rental clients stopping by.  I really miss all the excitement from my previously busy office, I want to see all of my clients again!
